Mauritius, an exotic island in the Indian Ocean. This paradise with its Indian infused culture was the perfect place to meet Ms. Linda Oliphant.
A passionate speaker with a warm, endearing presence, this broadcast and content Ambassador was a real pleasure to engage with one-on-one and listen to at the Zee World Media Round Table on Thursday morning September 3rd.
The Bollywood flavored MultiChoice Africa Content Showcase Extravaganza Media Round Table discussions topped off a spicy start to the morning which included a surprise gastronomic breakfast, featuring a variety of beautifully prepared Indian dished to explore. Aromatically splendid, and a great start to the day before hearing how the channel customizes content for Africa.

Earlier this year, Zee Entertainment Enterprises Limited (ZEEL), one of India’s leading television, media and entertainment companies launched the exciting new television channel, and since then, the channel has offered Africa a showcase of a variety of Bollywood movies along with series, reality and food shows.
“ZEE WORLD is the first offering from ZEE for mainstream viewers in Africa. We will be launching another channel for our French audiences in Francophone Africa before the end of this year with more channels scheduled for launch next year,” announced Mr. Harish Goyal who is CEO of ZEE TV AFRICAS.
Technically, it’s quite a process to take Indian inspired content and make it accessible in terms of language (Hindi to English translation is a skill that requires an eye for detail, sound production knowledge and fluency in both languages) duration, look and feel so the delivery of the content resonates with viewers.
Zee World’s Marketing Manager, Linda Oliphant, explained how all the content on Zee World (tune into GOtv Plus channel 25 and to DStv on channel 166) has undergone extensive research and customization, including editing and dubbing, and that the content research is a continuous process for all upcoming shows.
The time and resources this requires makes one appreciate the talent behind the scenes who work diligently to deliver on quality that enthrall and educate.
Thank you Ms. Oliphant and team, for pushing boundaries and raising the bar!
